We all spend a lot time making the exterior of our Boxster's look great. It makes sense, because the exterior of our cars is what everybody sees. We also need to care for the cockpit, which includes all the leather surfaces located throughout the interior of our cars. The leather in the interior of your car should be cleaned...

Here's a quick tutorial on downloading and reviewing the roads you've just been on in your Boxster while using a Garmin GPS. In Garmin speak it's called "Tracks". Tracks are 2 or more points of data that include location information, speed, altitude and more. Using Tracks, with Garmin's BaseCamp software you can map the...

I washed the Boxster this morning, so now it's time to put some wax on it. I try to wax the Boxster twice a year. My Boxster is my daily driver, so it gets frequent washings during the year. I wash my cars by hand, but even so, the frequent washing will gradually strip away the wax and put light swirl marks in the paint. There are a couple of options on how to wax your car. Between waxings, the surface of the paint gets swirl marks and hairline scratches. The swirl marks and hairline...

Since spring has arrived in most parts of the country, a lot of Porsche owners will be cleaning their cars for the upcoming driving season. One of the most common tasks that is done by most Porsche owners is to wash their car. We all have our own method of washing "baby", and they probably all do a very good job. I would like...

Hello BR Members, The CV joints on our cars' axles are very robust, and are a long life design as long as they are kept greased and sealed from the elements. Perhaps because of their robust design, they are very expensive to replace, and at least through my research, they are not readily available as 'rebuilt' or...

On my previous 986 I added the Porsche short shift kit. It was a huge improvement over the factory standard unit so after having bought a 981 GTS I figured the same must be true for it. And having seen Guenter in Ontario's commentary on the short shifter he had installed in his 981S, the bug bit me, done, I’m so doing this! I found some helpful information around the internet but nothing as involved as a full set of instructions with pictures and commentary on how to replace your 981...

Once you’ve been to the dealership, get your dream allocation and drop your hard earned cash deposit on the table the anticipation and long wait for delivery begins. And if like me with each day you crave information, you wonder where within the process your car is, when it might be done, how long will it take to get here and everything else related to finally taking delivery you find it difficult to think of anything else, then this narrative is for you. First and probably most important...

Many of our early 986 Boxsters have the original 12 volt accessory (cigarette lighter) plug and some of the new electronic devices’ plugs do not fit tightly in them. My new GPS is one of those devices and it finds a way to fall out of the socket, sending my GPS into a question frenzy of whether or not I want to run it off battery or plug, and freezing the screen at a crucial freeway change or off ramp. Tools needed: A tool of your choice to pry the switch housing from the climate...
