Let's face it, there are times when you just can't prevent the installation of a front license plate, which unfortunately comes with irreversible damage to the nose of your car. For me, it was tourist delivery that made it necessary for my front bumper to be drilled. This wouldn't be so bad if they didn't just blow screws into the plastic, but that's what they do, and the tension from those screws distorts the plastic around the hole into a volcano like head. Replacing the Cabin Air Filter (also referred to as the Pollen Filter) is possibly the easiest maintenance task to perform on a 987. I'll demonstrate this task on my 2007 Cayman S.
There are aftermarket filters available, but I like to use OE parts for my Porsche. The part number of the factory Porsche filter is 997.571.229.01. It's available at any Porsche parts department. I usually keep one on hand.

Properly breaking in your new brakes is essential to their continued performance and reliability, yet it's something that few people really understand. I've recently followed a very informative thread where several of our members were trading some pretty good information on this topic. I found the information was so valuable, that I thought it would be a good idea to archive it here as an article.

Changing the oil and filter on a 987 is actually very easy, but slightly different than other oil changes you may have performed. There are a few specialty tools I would recommend you obtain before tackling this maintenance task.
Recommended Tools:
A quality 3/8" drive Torque Wrench
An appropriately sized Oil Filter Socket that will attach to your 3/8" Torque Wrench
A 3/8" drive 8mm Hex Bit that will attach to your Torque Wrench
Oil Drain Pan
