Why the grille badges? Here's the backstory. I know this might not be everyone's cup a tea, but I grew up a Porsche PCA kid since 1970 (LPR, GGR), my parents dragged us to autocrossing and club events on the weekends and we'd still be in our Little League baseball outfits. Back then, grille badges on the back of a 911 were the norm. Proudly show you're a PCA member and what region you're in was all the rage. I guess this still holds true today, but modernized with different clubs; the R...

The PCM 3.1 is run from a magnetic disk HDD. As with any magnetic HDD it is susceptible to failure. This failure is usually exhibited by a PCM that repeatedly reboots itself. But this can be avoided by preemptively duplicating and replacing the HDD with a SSD. The PCM HDD is located on top of the PCM. There are instructions on removing the PCM available on line. Except the PCM does not need to be removed completely. It does need to be pulled forward enough to get to the top of the PCM...

Last year, I replaced all of the rotors and pads on my 2011 987S. In doing the replacement, I got the parts through a friend that does work restoring early Porsche brakes as well as full restorations. There was one issue that came up however. The front pads were correct as far as size, plus the vibration weights. But they were notched out for fitment of a rear brake sensor rather than having a hole drilled for the normal front brake sensor. Since I already had the car up on jacks and wheels,...

Thinking of getting my 718 Boxster "wrapped" with PPF, Paint Protection Film. I'd have it done professionally. Any thoughts as to why not to wrap?

Note this is for the 986 series only. Replacing spark plugs and tubes in our 986 Boxsters is fairly straight forward but because of the tight space of the locations, it’s helpful to use a few tools to make the job easier. Porsche supplies a wheel hanger stud to make it easy to dismount and mount our wheels. I bought these because I feel it’s better using two instead of one. The forward facing wheel liner needs to be removed. An easy task using a 10mm socket on the two plastic...

Here is a "DIY" on replacing the fuel injectors on a 986 from our friends at Pelican Parts. It appeared in the 02/04/2020 eBrake newsletter. https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Boxster_Tech/25-FUEL-Injectors/25-FUEL-Injectors.htm I'm Keoni986

I recently completed the installation of an aftermarket back-up camera for my 2010 987.2 Boxster. A quick recap follows for those just want to see the highlights and then a more detailed description follows. Disclaimer: I am not an automotive or electronics professional, nor have I completed any advanced training in these areas, so while the following installation approach has been successful in my case, I cannot provide any assurance that this approach is optimal nor that the outcome will...

Just started doing my own maintenance (2004S) and am currently replacing all of my filters. (easiest stuff first, right) I had difficulty purchasing a fuel filter, in fact I couldn't find one anywhere. Then I vaguely remembered reading somewhere, that post'02 Boxsters were built utilizeing a lifetime fuel filter?.. Anyone have any info they can share with me ? Thanks.:)
