When my wife and I bought land in Anne Arundel County, MD, back in 2004 it was to serve as our home and a site for Susan's equine veterinary practice. Since the land we purchased had nothing on it but a 20-acre patch of head-high weeds surrounded by many more acres of trees, that meant building a house and a barn.
