DIY Guide to Replacing the Accessories Belt in the 987 Questions/comments: PM or email me: lithium_1330@yahoo.com You can download the PDF here: https://www.box.com/s/32ftofdw935rrizmmfr4 This is a suggestive guide detailing steps one can take to replace the accessories drive belt in the engine bay of the 987 (Boxster/Cayman) cars. It is a relatively simple job that most of us can tackle. For this job, you do not need to put the Boxster top in service position, but opening it up ½ way will...

Some of the newer cars have LED lights inside and out. With a couple of exceptions (door pull handle and ambient light), our 987's come with the yellow-ish incandescent bulbs (invented in mid-19 century - that's in the 1800's :hmm:) inside and out. While functional, the tar-yellow color and temperature (hot) really dates the look of our cars. I recently converted all the interior, frunk/trunk, license plate lights with high tech LED's - the LED's are just as bright, but gives a modern ...

Laser Interceptor (LI) Laser Jammer Installation Procedure on Porsche 987 The write up applies to 987 (boxster & cayman), but should also be applicable to the 997 cars - just about all the components I worked with in this guide are from the 997 parts bin (i.e., they have 997 part numbers). This document also assumes you have basic knowledge working with automotive electronics, handy with tools and have standard screw driver and torx bit set. This document also assumes you have thoroughly...

987.1 Center console removal/Shifter Install DIY Guide Note some of the pictures are rotated the wrong way - I couldn't fix them. However, you can download the PDF (pictures right-side up) here: 987.1 Shifter Install DIY.pdf There are a few articles out there for DIY’ers to remove the 987.1 center console & short shift installation. A number of them instruct the DIY’er to take apart the shift knob and also unplug multiple connectors under the console. This step-by-step guide differs in...

I recently replace the 987 steering wheel with an aftermarket unit. While there are some instructions out on the net describing how to do it, I find visual aid (picture) helps tremendously with this one. To remove steering wheel, you need to first disconnect the battery. The battery takes a 10mm wrench. Negative first, then positive. Re-install is reverse. BTW, you may want to open the windows all the way down before disconnecting (recall the windows automatically drops 1/4" when door...

Here is the step by step instruction on removing the front bumper off a 987.1 Boxster. My car is a 2008 Boxster S, but should be applicable to all 2005 - 2008 S and non-S models. I would not be surprised if this also applies to 987.2, though I make no guarantee. Having done this a few times, the entire removal takes me about 15 minutes. So, it’s really simple. YMMY. Tools required: Jack & jack stands Torx bits - I don’t know the exact sizes, but you should do fine if you have a torx bit...

Stuff you need: • Sanding paper: 200 grit – 400 – 600 – 1000 – 1500 -2000 (local auto parts store is your best bet. Home improvement stores near me didn’t carry anything more 400 grit) • Water in squirt bottle (for wet sanding) • P21S Metal polish (for finishing/buffing) If I’m the city planner, I would use berms instead of curbs. This happens to the best of us and it’s never a good feeling. There are numerous options to fixing curb rashes. After evaluating the damages and doing some...
